Are you ready for an amazing story? Like…. a really amazing story?!?!

Let me take you back to September, 2016, when I was photographing an adorable couple at Maluaka Beach and we were finishing up and started heading back toward the parking lot talking story. As we’re walking, I hear, ‘Hey wait!’ and another adorable couple runs up and asks about wedding photography. I gave them my instagram and my card and headed home.

As I was putting the wedding images into my computer, an email comes in from “The Plauche’s” and I opened it immediately because Plauche’ is my maiden name. It’s from the couple on the beach. Wait… what?!? What are they doing with my last name? So I instantly respond with something along the lines of, “All wedding talk aside, is your last name really Plauche’? Because that’s my last name and do you pronounce it right?!” which led to a phone call and then a meetup for coffee. Derek and I are related! The Plauche’ clan are all related way back to Etienne Plauche’ from Louisiana.

So over the last year, Derek and Samantha have truly become ‘ohana to me. As the wedding day approached, we got more and more excited. It turned into a rainy day in September, but we had the entire beach to ourselves. The light was actually gorgeous and they were blessed with a kiss of rain on their beautiful marriage. Words can’t even describe how happy I was to be there and capture this.
