There is evidence laying around somewhere in my piles of photos. Evidence of Lacey and I in those awkward ‘tween’ years where our teeth are just a little too big for our heads and we’re still looking for our identity. At the time we met in 6th grade, I was obsessed with my (fake) Chuck Taylors, Love Beads, and this t-shirt that had a lion on it (I wasn’t quite in with the stylish crowd). Somewhere there’s pictures of Lacey with her Kool-Aid dyed hair. By 7th grade we had an official spot that we deemed “the pole” where we hung out every recess. Our friendship grew right into highschool – afternoons were spent at the beach, and one summer I got to go to Oahu with her and her family. Lacey was a wild child. My mom loved her. We would laugh at everything to the point we almost peed our pants (have I gone too far?).
I’m thankful to say that our friendship continued into adulthood and though Lacey moved (super) far away, Facebook has kept our friendship alive. A few years ago Lacey had her first baby, her gorgeous daughter, and now her baby son. I have FINALLY gotten to meet her love, Michael, and we all headed to Gannon’s for their wedding. I often cry at weddings – I love them. But for this wedding, that moment after the ceremony when everyone hugs the bride and groom, I was hugging and our friend Leizl and Julie were there and it was like a big reunion. I was bawling!
Congratulations Lacey and Michael! Michael – you got yourself a really fantastic lady. I wish you guys so much happiness and definitely more Maui visits in the future! XO
