Maui Photographer

My daughter is so much like me. She’s a little bit of a tom-boy, but when she does get dressed up she goes all out. Her drawers are filled with play clothes and she loves to wear things that don’t match. Chances are if I buy her something pretty, she won’t like it. But I did get it right when I bought her a very special dress to wear to our vow renewal we had in June. She loves the dress. She came running out of her room yelling in distress that “The Dress” was getting too small. She shimmied into it and asked that we go outside for an impromptu photo shoot.

We live in Makawao, on the slopes of Haleakala, where the air gets crisp, the grass grows right along the roadside, and it’s green all the time. While I am a total beach girl, coming home to Makawao is something special. Our yard serves as an amazing location for photos – so Ry is in the garden modeling her dress for the last time. I decided to go a bit film inspired in editing these photos of my baby girl – and couldn’t help grabbing one of the two of us at the end.
