Lately I’ve been feeling a need to dive deeper, to really get into the emotions and the gravity of what photography is capable of. I try to be light hearted and positive in everything I do, but sometimes you really need to dig deeper, experience the dark, and understand that when we are in a dark place, it might feel like we’re being buried. But what’s really happening is that we’re planted – we are ready to sprout and grow.
Sometimes change happens and it’s hard to process. Sometimes we need to address the emotions, learn to let go, learn to speak to ourselves. Sometimes we have to start fresh and sometimes we have to continue a journey we started long ago and set to the side. Whatever the change may be, sometimes nature is where are heart is calling us.
I kept thinking of water – WAI – and the fact that it can be so peaceful at one moment and raging at others. How the Wailuku River flows through Iao Valley and creates so much life and power. So off to Iao Valley we went.
At the river’s edge, Jean proclaimed her worthiness, “I am worthy of being happy. I love myself. I am worth it.” and the power of this type of session became very apparent to both of us. This was more than photos. This was a proclamation. This was freeing.
As the waters flowed by us, I think we both felt stronger. We absolutely felt more connected.
This was such an incredible session on so many levels. Cheers to all the women that are realizing who they are, what they’re capable of, and learning that we’re WORTHY and that it’s ok to love yourself and put yourself first.
If you’re finding you are in need of a restorative session like this, please reach out to me. It was one of the most amazing sessions I’ve ever had the privilege of being a part of. xoxo
