Maui Family Portraits – Kids will be kids – by Photographer Mariah Milan

I hear it all the time – SAY CHEESE! And while “cheese” does yield a smile, I really like to look beyond the cheese. Part of my job is not to only capture beautiful portraits of a family, but to capture the essence of a child at a particular age. Part of capturing children is photographing what they do – PLAY. I love to play.

This family had small children and it was so much fun to play with them at Big Beach in Makena. I love how they played with the sticks, ran around, danced ballet moves, and hopped like bunnies. These moments with families and children are so precious to me. It’s so important to look beyond the cheese – these cuties gave me so much to work with. Loved this session!

And how about big sister at the end? Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much “R” Family for having us tag along on your Big Beach afternoon. It was so much fun!
