It’s like it’s ingrained on us – pictures have to be perfect. It’s a Kodak Moment. We’re bombarded by PERFECT all the time. I want you to know that perfect is never the answer. Here’s how to LET GO and really enjoy your Maui portrait session.
This is especially true for children that are seeing the ocean for the first time, or touching the sand for the first time. They are going to be in AWE. They are going to be in wonderment. They may be excited or they may be scared.
My first bit of advice is to go with the flow. Watch them be in awe and wonderment. Relive it in yourself.
My second bit of advice is to throw perfect out the window. Scoop your kids up, get a little sandy. Be in the moment with your children.
Next, understand that your kids are growing and it’s happening fast. Love on them. Tell them what they mean to you. Even if they’re moody.
Next, remember they’re kids. And they’re standing in an amazing place with so many opportunities for play. The last thing they want to do is “cheese” at a stranger with a camera. Allow us to play with them and get to know them so that we can capture genuine smiles.
Don’t forget that you’re important. Your love for each other without the kids is also really important to us.
We know that having perfect smiling images of your family are important. But down the road, what is really important – that you were perfectly clean and dry or that you experienced amazing moments with your children?
Our goal is always to capture what you might not see – the beauty that we see in you and your family is so much bigger than smiling at the camera.
