Editing Explained

I often get asked what editing is, why it’s done, why it can take a while, and what I use to edit my images.

I’m going to show you a sample from this afternoon’s photo shoot with adorable Bella (one of my favorite images from the session!). The image below is Straight Out of Camera (SOOC).

Bella is absolutely adorable and the exposure is correct and her eyes are sparkly and gorgeous. But I like to take things further. I do this in Photoshop, which is an amazing program. I wanted to fix the scrape on Bella’s cheek and warm the image further. Through various steps I achieved the look I was going for. Of course each image is different, but average editing time per image is 5 – 10 minutes. Depending upon the style of the session, you can see how this time can add up! But in the end it’s worth it to achieve the final image!
