Mia booked this Maui Photo Session as a surprise for her mother-in-law, Sandy, as she just graduated with her doctorate in geriatric nursing. What a wonderful way to celebrate such a great achievement!

We arrived to a busy Kapalua Bay. Ominous clouds were coming in which cleared the beach. We decided to stay as the kids were having such a wonderful time and the color was so beautiful. If you know me well, you know that I adore that purple color of rain clouds and the beautiful aqua the ocean turns. Some of my favorite colors of all time!

While we didn’t get much of a sunset, we exchanged it for some amazing things. Firstly, this family is awesome. They played together, laughed, kicked around water, and then got into the water! We experienced an amazing, tropical Kapalua rain. It was warm and lovely. And as a finale, a big sea turtle made his way to within feet of all of us. The turtle was spectacular. In all my years as a Maui photographer, I have never had a turtle approach us this close. It was truly magical and special.
